JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Fixture Technician FLSA STATUS: Non
Exempt REPORTS TO: Manager, Maintenance or Manager, Engineering
(Manufacturing) SUMMARY This is skilled work involving the building
and repairing of fixtures and secondary equipment. Work involves
utilization of a wide variety of hand and power tools to fabricate,
build, repair, replace, and modify existing fixtures and secondary
equipment. Dismantles, re-assembles, repairs, troubleshoots, and
overhauls a wide variety of fixtures and secondary equipment.
Performs miscellaneous welding, cutting, and brazing.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be
physically capable of walking for the entire work shift. Must be
able to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly. Repeated bending and
lifting during the shift. Must be able to wear steel-toe footwear.
Adequate visual acuity to enter/revise molding press programming.
Must be able to meet requirements for forklift and crane license.
Must be capable of exerting up to 150 foot pounds on torque wrench.
Must be able to work around Magnetic Field RESPONSIBILITIES AND
DUTIES: Under general supervision is responsible for the following
major tasks: Build and repair fixtures. Review and improve design
on current and new fixtures. Prepare quotes on new fixtures.
Performs routine preventive maintenance on fixtures and secondary
equipment as required. Troubleshoots, disassembles, and
re-assembles fixtures, secondary equipment, and components as
directed. Troubleshoots pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical mechanical
equipment as directed. Design and build manufacturing equipment
such as skid tippers, gate cutters, work stations, welders and
conveyor systems. Tests secondary equipment, components, and
fixtures to assure proper operation. Modifies jigs and fixtures to
correct problems. Maintain records of all repairs, modifications,
and inventory performed. Welds, cuts, brazes metal for repair and
fabrication purposes. Inspects secondary equipment and fixtures and
reports needed repairs. Trains personnel in the proper use of new
fixtures and secondary equipment. Completes forms, work orders,
charts, and other miscellaneous paperwork to assure proper
documentation of work needed or performed. Maintains adequate
repair supplies. Performs other work as directed. EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE A minimum of 5 years years of progressive experience
leading to technical journeyman work requiring extensive knowledge
of fixture building and repair. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Possesses the
ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a
limited number of choices. A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic
Select Assessment (Traditional Score of 20 on the cognitive
portion). TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS This position typically does not
